Biology

• Adult is a beetle with orange spots on black body
• Muffs of black hair on third and sometime fourth and fifth antennal segment

Nature of damage

• Grub cause damage
• Tunnel running downwards for several feet from branch into main trunk
• Several ejection holes along the course of the tunnel and frass ejected in the form of compact oval white pellets

 Management

• Cotton soaked in 0.5% dichlorvos 76 EC (5 ml / lit.) can be kept inside the bore hole and plugged with mud
